Lighting, outdoors

Lighting (off camera flash) outdoors can be tricky, and especially in Northern Norway because of the wind. This means that often one can not take a standing flashlight with, unless you are lucky enough to have an assistant.

Camera in one hand, flash in the other, high up at an angle. Remember to use coloured gels to help with the discrepancy in white balance, especially when it gets a bit dark outside.

Thats a great way to make your subject stand out, albeit it sometimes comes in a lack of some shadows on the face. Just come closer, and keep the flash further away on the side and bingo…

Off camera flash - a lot of fun!
